The traditional roots of the ALPINE EVO GTX cannot be denied. Nonetheless, the concept used in this mountaineering boot has forged new paths. It all starts at the very beginning – when you slip your feet into the boots. The elastic collar made of a soft Lycra material creates a form-fitting embrace around the leg and will prevent nettlesome pebbles from sneaking into your boots. The lacing system has been moved farther to the front, an enhancement that enables wearers to optimally adjust their laces. Additional comfort is provided by the X-LACING® system that is used to fix the footwear’s tongue into place and the locking hooks for a dual-zone lacing system. Users’ feet will remain dry no matter what thanks to the waterproof GORE-TEX lining used the boots. But the biggest highlight of all is the boot’s LOWA-REPTEX elements made of PU material that have been injected onto the upper. They not only take the place of the classic rubber rand, but also provide both the necessary stability and a refreshingly modern look, all whilst helping the boot shed a little weight. The ALPINE EVO GTX is the perfect choice for the toughest terrains, thanks in part to the new VIBRAM®-ALP-TRAC®-NUMEN outsole, carbon-reinforced midsole and robust heel and toe cap.
• GORE-TEX® – Guaranteed weather protection, even in pouring rain and heavy snow: The ALPINE EVO GTX is equipped with a GORE-TEX membrane. The innovative technology delivers optimal waterproof protection and breathability.
• 2-Zone-Lacing – Thanks to the two-zone lacing system used in the ALPINE EVO GTX, the forefoot and upper have their own separately adjustable lacing zones. As a result, the shoe can be individually adapted to the anatomy of the foot and laced in different ways for ascents and descents.
• CLOSE TO THE GROUND - People who venture across Alpine terrain face many challenges. Fields of loose rocks, rocky outcrops and rough terrain place the highest demands on footwear. For this reason, LOWA uses the technologies of CLOSE TO THE GROUND in the ALPINE EVO GTX to create a good feel on the surface. The sole is designed in such a way that the distance to the ground is kept to a bare minimum. The height minimisation throughout the entire shoe creates a natural feel during challenging tours and provides stable footing on uneven terrain.
• LOWA REPTEX prevents the upper material of the ALPINE EVO GTX from being damaged by objects like sharp rocks. In comparison with rubber, the effective reinforcement reduces the total weight and increases performance on the mountain.
• As a result, the tongue is located where it should be – without any slippage or pressure points: This is what X-LACING® technology of the ALPINE EVO GTX is all about. This special lacing system secures the tongue both vertically and horizontally. Because the lacing system gains independence from the height of the instep, the design is perfect for any type of foot. This technology ensures that the pressure of the laces is transferred not just to the hooks but to the tongue as well.
• To ensure laces run flexibly and smoothly through the eyelets, small roller balls minimise friction in the metal eyelets of the ALPINE EVO GTX.
• Just pull tight and lock in place: To simplify the job of tying footwear, LOWA has developed a special type of fastening hook for the ALPINE EVO GTX. Special feature: the system holds the laces in place in two different zones. Once the laces have been pulled tight in the lower area, they can be locked in place with the help of the fastening hook. Simply pressing the hook fastener upwards releases the locking action and the instep laces can be loosened.
• Feet can roll more effectively if the upper of a hiking boot can be easily bent. Such a feature saves energy when the wearer climbs hills and it provides real comfort in the process. For this reason, LOWA has integrated a flexible zone and a lace loop into this area for the ALPINE EVO GTX. This involves repositioning the boot’s eyelets and using a flexible lace hook that improves heel comfort and facilitates bending.
• The ALPINE EVO GTX comes equipped with a Vibram® sole. The Italian sole manufacturer has been one of the leading brands of high-quality soles for many years. The performance sole VIBRAM® ALP TRAC® NUMEN is designed especially for alpine conditions. The large “climbing zone” on the sole tip enables wearers to move precisely as they manoeuvre their way up sheer rock faces. The stud arrangement ensures that any dirt that accumulates in the sole of the footwear will be shaken loose while the boot wearer is walking.
